Sting tested the Kaunas audience's abilities, interacted with the Lavrinovičiai brothers...
On Tuesday evening, Sting, who performed at the "Žalgiris" arena, both moved the audience to tears and demonstrated his sense of humour.
With the concert at the "Žalgiris" arena, the singer concluded his three-month-long "Back to Bass Tour", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of his solo career.
Sting chose a private plane for the trip to Kaunas. He landed at Kaunas airport almost three hours before the concert. Before the concert, he had time to have a nice chat with several fans backstage, including basketball players brothers Darjušas and Kršyštof Lavrinovičiai.
Posing for a joint photo, the brothers lifted the singer by the arms so that he would feel equal.
The artist, who was in Kaunas for the first time, was greeted with a deafening ovation by a packed hall.
"Good evening, Lithuania," the artist greeted, starting to sing the first song, 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You'. These words did not escape the ears of the fans. "Good evening, thank you - that's all I know in Lithuanian," Sting admitted a little later and thanked the audience gathered for his concert, only in English. "Thank you for coming," the artist said from the stage, and his words were accompanied by a new wave of ovations.
Sting did not forget to thank his musical group and technical team. It felt like this concert was the last of a whole tiring tour. The singer's entourage relaxed and joked backstage before the performance.
Sting brought energetic arrangements of lyrical hits born several decades ago to Kaunas, which is why his performance sometimes resembled a jazz rock show.
As soon as the concert began, it was the turn of the audience to make their debut. Sting first let them express themselves by singing 'Englishman in New York'. The performer kept falling silent and waiting for the audience to sing their part. The audience performed this and other tasks with the greatest pleasure.
The audience was also exploited during the song 'Heavy Cloud No Rain'. According to the preliminary instructions, those gathered were to join in with the words "No Rain". "Let's practice!" - the singer urged the fans. After hearing the first attempt, he shook his head, but did not criticize: "Not bad".
Before moving on to the next song, Sting asked what the Lithuanian word for "animal with a red tail" was. The world-class star had a hard time understanding the answer.
"I heard that laps", - the musician tried to name a fox, but from the laughter that swept the audience, he realized that he was wrong. "It doesn't matter. You still understand what I mean", - and the chords of the song about the love of a fox and a fox were heard.
"The next song will be about my house in England. True, it's more of a castle..." - the artist again could not resist the temptation to joke, introducing the song 'Fields Of Gold'.
During the concert, the arena was constantly sparkling - fans kept trying to capture moments of the memorable concert.
During the two hours, fans also heard other popular solo songs by Sting and the band "The Police" - 'Message In A Bottle', 'Shape Of My Heart', 'Roxanne', 'Desert Rose', 'Fragile' and others.
After the concert, the audience forced the musicians to return to the stage several times. During the first comeback, they managed to request as many as three songs. However, that was not enough. Sting gave in and returned for the second time.
During the "Back to Bass Tour" tour, the artist travels with a live band of five musicians. The new sound of the songs is helped by guitar and violin virtuosos and one of the world's best drummers, Vinnie Colaiuta.
Sting left Kaunas, and at the same time Lithuania, shortly after the concert.
Sting began the "Back to Bass Tour" tour in the fall of last year.
The English-born artist has created numerous platinum albums during his career, and several dozen of his songs have become hits. He has won as many as 16 Grammy statuettes and sold over 115 million albums worldwide.
