Sting and his band rock out in the studio – and he even climbs onto a roof – in the video for his new song "I Can't Stop Thinking About You," a tune off his upcoming solo LP 57th & 9th. Jeff Coffman, who has previously helmed clips by Robert Francis and Jason Mraz, directed the clip. The new record is the former Police frontman's first pure rock album in over a decade, following the jazz-inflected musical-theater work The Last Ship and a number of classical works. It will come out on November 11th.
For the album, Sting teamed with some of his regular collaborators – including guitarist Dominic Miller and drummers Vinnie Colaiuta and Josh Freese – as well as the group the Last Bandoleros. He has said that the album came together spontaneously, in only a matter of weeks.
"It's about searching and traveling, the road, that pull of the unknown," he said of the LP in a statement. "On this album, we ended up with something that's energetic and noisy, but also thoughtful."
The record will come out digitally as well as on CD and vinyl. There is also a deluxe edition that contains three bonus tracks, one of which is an "L.A. Version" of "I Can't Stop Thinking About You." The others are a live version of the Police's "Next to You," with the Last Bandoleros, and a "Berlin Sessions Version" of the 57th & 9th song "Inshallah." A super deluxe edition contains liner notes by Sting, a DVD with a Sting interview, the "Next to You" performance and photographs.
