Legendary group The Police, performed at the Venetian Macao on February 7 to a sell out crowd.
The Police tour was a resounding success with fans and critics united in their enthusiastic endorsement of what was considered by many as the tour of the year. From the opening notes of 'Message In A Bottle' through a set list which included the mega-hits: 'Roxanne', 'Synchronicity', 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', 'Every Breath You Take', 'When The World Is Running Down', and 'Spirits In The Material World', the energy that Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers exude on stage was matched only by the exuberant response of the audience.
With over 2,200,000 tickets sold to date and more concerts to be announced, The Police tour was definitely the hottest ticket of the year, with many fans still scrambling to buy a seat days before the event. It began on May 28 in Vancouver and has already played 40 concert dates in North America and 26 performances in Europe, with a return engagement in North America prior to their 2007 appearances in Mexico City, Monterrey, Buenos Aires, Rio De Janeiro and Santiago Chile.
In 2008, in addition to their magnificent turn at The Venetian Arena, The Police will continue to perform in Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
The Police performance in the Venetian Arena was the band's first appearance in Macau.
The band has recently released a greatest hits collection, 'The Police' to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first single 'Fall Out'. This consummate collection brings together the biggest hits from the band's five original studio albums and includes their very first single, 1977's 'Fall Out'.
A portion of the proceeds from this tour will be donated to WaterAid, an international NGO, founded in 1981 and dedicated to reducing poverty by improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education. For information, please visit www.wateraid.org.
