As previously announced, Sting: My Songs will return to Poland this summer for a very special concert at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw on July 25th. Today, the Cherrytree Music Company and Live Nation have confirmed that Anna Maria Jopek will be the special guest, performing before Sting at the show.
Sting’s My Songs concert is an exuberant and dynamic show featuring his most beloved songs, written throughout the 17-time Grammy Award winner’s prolific career both with The Police and as a solo artist. Hailed a “masterful performance from start to finish,” the concert “takes fans on a musical journey through time,” with “hits like “Fields of Gold”, “Shape of my Heart”, “Roxanne” and “Demolition Man” punctuating an unforgettable show.” Fans can also expect to hear “Englishman In New York,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne,” “Message In A Bottle” and many more, with Sting accompanied by an electric, rock ensemble including Dominic Miller (guitar), Josh Freese (drums), Rufus Miller (guitar), Kevon Webster (keyboard), Shane Sager (harmonica) with Melissa Musique and Gene Noble (backing vocals).
Anna Maria Jopek records and has performed with artists as diverse as Pat Metheny, Youssu'n Dour and Bobby McFerrin. She has performed on some of the most prestigious stages, including: Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Royal Festival Hall, Opera in Tokyo and Tel Aviv and has received numerous awards and distinctions and regularly appears at major festivals popularizing Polish music throughout the world. Recently she appeared in the mega production „Wikingowie”, and in March she starts touring Poland promoting the new project „Przestworza”.
In 2016, Anna Maria Jopek had the opportunity to open Sting's New Year's concert at the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall in Toruń, where they performed the song "Fragile" together. As the artist recalls: "my performance with Sting was spontaneous. This scene is on a film on the web and when I see it I think I would repeat it whenever I could meet Sting. He established a language in music in which I can communicate today. He had the talent, courage and taste to create a fusion of so many important and seemingly incompatible tracks in music. It is a source of inexhaustible inspiration for me - from the simplicity and perfection of leading a phrase in singing to the perfection of composition. And if it wasn't for Sting, maybe I wouldn't love Branford Marsalis or Mino Cinel so madly, with whom I recorded my last album "Ulotne"."
